Magnets are a really neat thing which draws certain metals towards them. Have you ever watched as a magnet stuck to your refrigerator or played with one that makes things move without touching them? Magnets (meaning permanent magnets) have existed for a very long time. Long ago, people in Greece and China discovered lodestones, special rocks that can attach to metal of their own accord. And now we use magnets all over our world today!
Three mm is super tiny - it is nearly the size of a small bead. But I mean something so small you’re like. These are tiny magnets but they can arguably be very powerful!! Little magnets pick up little metal things like they are magic. They may seem small, but can do big jobs.
Tiny magnets like this one are used in many fun and helpful ways. They can be pieced into neat crafts such as putting pictures on your fridge. Others create special jewelry that opens and closes with a special magnetic click. What about designing a necklace or bracelet which could communicate via just a small magnet? You can also use these small magnets to make sure bags and purses close perfectly.
These little magnets are used by scientists and doctors in all sorts of wonderful ways. Doctors can then look inside a person’s body with big machines — called MRI machines — to see what they need to do to help them get better. Basically, it gives us a glass window to look at and watch what is going on in the inside! Other magnets help produce sound in speakers, so you can listen to music or watch videos. Other magnets ensure that electronic devices function without interruption.
It sounds like magic, but magnets have magical properties. They can attract some metals and repel others. That occurs because of small components within the magnet known as atoms. These are smaller than you can even see! When these minuscule atoms orient themselves just so, they create a powerful magnet. It feels like they are all in this together.

These sides can either work together or drive one another apart. Like, ants have their own special dance or something! Some magnets are strong enough to work through other materials, like paper or plastic.
